Jazz Band and the Chamber Jazz Ensemble are extra-curricular ensembles devoted to playing classic jazz repertoire and developing jazz improvisation skills.
PV Jazz Band
The PV Jazz Band is a competitive ensemble devoted to performing classic and contemporary jazz repertoire. PV Jazz performs at the PVHS Winter and Spring Concerts, the Bergen County Teen Arts Festival, and enters numerous competitions, including Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington Competition and the NJ State Jazz Band Competition, and has the opportunity to workshop with world-class jazz educators.
The PV Jazz Band rehearses Wednesdays 7-9pm beginning October 22
PVHS Chamber Jazz Ensemble
The PVHS Chamber Jazz Ensemble is a small group that works to develop jazz soloists and learn standard jazz repertoire. Members of this group must also be members of the PVHS Jazz Band.
Rehearsal times vary but often occur during lunch periods and other common times.
The Chamber Jazz Ensemble maintains a busy performance schedule and has performed at various school events, local festivals and jazz clubs.
