The Pascack Valley High School Jazz Band and Chamber Jazz Ensemble

Jazz Band and the Chamber Jazz Ensemble are extra-curricular ensembles devoted to playing classic jazz repertoire and developing  jazz improvisation skills.

PV Jazz Band

The PV Jazz Band is a large ensemble devoted to performing classic jazz repertoire, including the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Thad Jones. 

The PV Jazz Band rehearses Wednesdays 7-9pm beginning October 18

The Jazz Band performs at the PVHS Winter and Spring Concerts, the Bergen County Teen Arts Festival, and other Jazz Festivals, including Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington Festival at Newark Academy.  The ensemble also enters national competitions devoted to jazz performance including the Mingus Competion and Downbeat Student Awards, and has the opportunity to workshop with world-class jazz educators.


PVHS Chamber Jazz Ensemble

The PVHS Chamber Jazz Ensemble is a small group that works to develop jazz soloists and learn standard jazz  repertoire.  Members of this group must also be members of the PVHS Jazz Band.  

Rehearsal times vary but often occur during lunch periods and other common times.

The Chamber Jazz Ensemble maintains a busy performance schedule and has performed at various school events, local festivals and jazz clubs.
